First Practice Day in Sacramento

This morning began off with a meeting of the entire Team Canada contingent at the Hawthorne Suites (next to the race site) to discuss the practice schedule over the next three days, as well as other logistics including uniforms, athletes parade, opening ceremony, etc. Team Canada was given 10 boats and one hour of practice time today.

During practices sessions today there was also an opportunity to meet other Canadian athletes who will be competing in Sacramento.

Both V6 and V1 Practice sessions took place. V6 between 2-3pm and V1 between 3-3:30pm. The pictures below show Team Canada Golden Masters women practicing in a V6 and Junior U-16 Jordan Pilon practicing in a V1.

On the Road

Senior Masters athlete Marianne Pilon and Junior athletes Jordan Pilon and Marcus Krieger finally crossing into California after about 10 hours on the road ... a welcome site. The drive down was long and fairly uneventful. Soon after crossing the California border we entered an area of very dense smoke from the California fires. Luckly it dissipated after about 100 miles or so.

The boys were kept busy in the back seat with marathon sessions of Starcraft and Final Fantasy on the laptop and Nintendo DS.

Nine Days to Start of California Road Trip!!

Only nine days left until we board the 6:00am Coho ferry to Port Angeles and begin the 14 hour drive south to Sacramento California. Over the last two weeks since our Team Canada training camp in Vancouver we've all been practicing our buoy turns around any stationary object we can find in the harbour or along the Gorge waterway.
Stay tuned for more updates .....
